The Pallet Rack System
The pallet racks are the stands where pallets
can be placed and stored up high. You can actually expand a single area
into a place that is capable of accommodating tons of commodities by
incorporating a pallet rack system in any warehouse or factory.
The rack systems make it possible to hold
hundreds of pallets by piling it up in the air. Hence this is important
in space management of every warehouse. There are several classifications
of rack systems such as selective; light or heavy duty; and open or
closed tubes rack systems.
The pallet rack systems are designed and
conceptualized based on the warehouse and the products to be stored
and transported. Each system is designed to assure the safety of the
products to be stored as well as the welfare of the people who will
be working around the warehouse. Nowadays, the pallet rack system is subjected
to the strict standards of quality. They should be able to withstand
even extreme conditions and reliable under any circumstances. This makes
the system complicated to design even its structure is so simple.
And through the years, there have been
different kinds of pallet racks that are now available in the market
that even make rack system even more complicated to design because there
are so many things and functions to consider to assure the durability
of the system under any condition.
Pallet rack system also need to be resistant
to seismic activities, and although this feature is not compulsory or
mandated by law, many clients and companies look for this special feature
as it give their business an added security. But the most important
thing to consider when you are planning to install a rack system in
your business operation is the density of storage and simplicity of
operation and product movement.
Pallet rack systems are constructed either
from cold-roll formed kinds or hot-rolled structural steel. The rack system that is made from hot-rolled structural steel is known to be
more durable and resistant to damage compared to the rack system that
is built from cold-roll. However, hot-rolled structural steel is more
expensive than cold roll construction.
